Can someone recommend a simple GIS tool for handling GPX files. Ideally I want a tool that will read a GPX track file, overlay it on an OSM map and automatically provide some statistics.

Until now I've been using "GPX Viewer" (see screenshot), but the app is now full of bugs and the project looks dead. A similar Free Software tool would be great. I'm not wanting to use an online service.

Theresa May has announced, while on a flight to Egypt, that the meaningful vote won't happen this week. New date set for March 12th, just 17 days before the UK is scheduled to leave the EU.

Seriously, is this respectful to parliament & UK?

An accidental photo.

I was setting up my camera on the tripod when I inadvertently touched the remote trigger release, and took a photo.

The funny thing is you can see my shadow with my outstretched arm reaching towards the tripod. My error captured for posterity.

We are big curry fans. However, we are also #lowcarb , so we avoid rice.

The typical #keto solution is cauliflower rice. Not to our taste.

A much better solution is finely shredded Savoy cabbage. Fulfills the requirement of mopping up sauce & is neutral enough to go with any curry. Also cheap & easy to make.

Core the cabbage, cut into quarters. Slice finely. Place in heavy pan over high heat. Small amount of water & salt. Stir constantly until cooked. Toss in butter.

Today marks the 30th anniversary of the Lockerbie Bombing.

On December 21 1988 a bomb exploded on Pan Am Flight 103 as it was flying over Scotland, en-route to New York & Detroit. The plane crashed on the town of Lockerbie.

All 243 passengers and 16 crew were killed. A further 11 people in Lockerbie were killed when the remains of the plane came down. The remaining fuel caused a fireball in the town.

Irony overload.

A decision on whether the UK can unilaterally reverse Article 50 (i.e. effectively cancel Brexit) will be taken on November 27th.

The decision will be made by judges at (wait for it...):
the Court of Justice of the EU

The UK govt' failed in their attempt to stop the decision going to the CJEU.

This may be a crucial decision if Theresa May's plan fails to get parliamentary consent.

We live in interesting times.

25 years old.

Ian Murdock announced #Debian on August 16th 1993. The first release, 0.01, was made the next month, on September 15th.

Congratulations & thanks to the Debian volunteers, past and present, for making it such a fantastic distro. Here's to the next 25 years.
