Owning a phone became much more important than owning a clock.

After a month of going fully #kubernetes I can't help but feel amazed and surprised at how difficult it all looked at first! Everything makes sense now!!

And containers are running without downtime :)

@Semilocon sadly, not yet. You can communicate with everyone, but can only be part of one instance (server).

Still, if you add someone from another instance, you specify their instance. For example, I am @fermuch but you can also find me at @fermuch !!

Even if pixelfed is a completly different service, you can still communicate with it from your account as if it was all just one big network 😁

Do you feel harassed on your instance? Admins don't help you enough? Do you feel in disconfort with some rule in your instance? Then you can join another instance, with their own set of rules & people! Or create your own!

Also, if some instance goes down (no more money for servers, or anything else...), the network itself (the union of all the fediverse instances) will still run, so it's a lot more censorship resistant!

@Semilocon ah! That's the most complicated part of the fediverse IMHO.

Imagine instances as communities. Do you like anime? Then an anime related community might be your place.
By going to an instance with interests related to yours, you can find people in your instance feed (instead of the global feed) to communicate, which makes it easier to find friends!

By joining an instance, you're not only forming part of that community, but also joing the server's rules and mods....

For the newcommers to #mastodon ... How are you doing? Did you find your place in the community? Are you enjoying your time here? What do you think about the #fediverse ? Have you tried alternatives, like gnusocial.net or pixelfed.social ? (they all work with mastodon!)

Are there any stats about how much people came vs how much people are coming back?
