MMN-o ✅⃠ (mmn@social.umeahackerspace.se)'s status on Friday, 21-Apr-2017 05:32:51 UTC MMN-o ✅⃠ It's unfortunate that HN doesn't federate, as I can't join the discussion without becoming a customer and giving away data to some random capitalist "incubator" with nothing but an interest to make money off from me rather than give me a platform to discuss news on. Then maybe I could've replied to some illiterate crap there. -

MMN-o ✅⃠ (mmn@social.umeahackerspace.se)'s status on Friday, 21-Apr-2017 06:00:02 UTC MMN-o ✅⃠ Well, that was one hour of !GNUsocial browsing in the morning to wake up. Now the sun is acting up and causing a bunch of light radiating through the curtains. Better get up and do something less productive. -

Munin, Keeper of Lore (munin@mastodon.hasameli.com)'s status on Friday, 21-Apr-2017 05:17:20 UTC Munin, Keeper of Lore You know, I remember the bad old days of dependency hell - back when you used to have to hunt down twelve different library sources in order to compile something.
I remember the joy I had when I first found a decent package manager that could solve that for me.
And now we're back in dependency hell, with having to resolve gorram ruby versions. Because apparently it's 2001 again.

*pause, furitive glances, in the corner, someone pipes up*
"How about we make them manage dependencies?" -

Naomi Wu (sexycyborg@mastodon.social)'s status on Friday, 21-Apr-2017 05:34:52 UTC Naomi Wu @VacuumForest I've mostly gone back to coding. I'm never going to be able to earn a living in the Maker community while being blacklisted by the largest traffic sources and I have to be practical about my future. It's just a very different situation here and unfortunately it's hard (and frustrating) to explain to Westerners why part-time work or expensive hobbies are not an option.

Bob Mottram (bob@social.freedombone.net)'s status on Thursday, 20-Apr-2017 22:49:59 UTC Bob Mottram @schestowitz well of course. I find these things horrifying, but I think there was an attempt to make a Free Software one a while ago which could be a lot more privacy respecting.
The possibility of never escaping from Google: at home, while driving or at work, is quite real. -
