@maiyannah @moonman what did you change it to? Currently I use the ciphers recommended by bettercrypto.org -

@kzimmermann @privacymatters right. That's why I think it's not practical on mobile. -

@privacymatters @kzimmermann qTox is quite nice, and I use it on the mesh version of !Freedombone. The only bad point of Tox that I'm aware of is that it doesn't have a practical mobile client. -

@maiyannah I found the opposite when I was using apache on small ARM boards. I eventually concluded that apache just needs more RAM than you would typically expect to find on a Beagleboard. Maybe it works well on high end servers, because that's probably what it's optimized for. -

@kitredgrave @trev capitalism is always adapting. That's the only reason it has survived through numerous crises. So if the fediverse were to become popular to the extent that it dints the Twitter or Facebook user base you can bet that capitalists will be working overtime to find any possible way to undermine or weasel into it. -

@ginnymcqueen I've heard tales of how bad the US system is. I assume the government is incapable of doing anything useful, so to actually fix the problems you perhaps need something like mutual societies, training medical skills inside the community. Less specialties, more generalists. -

@masoud @gargron all kinds of craziness goes on on Mastodon, so I'm told, so I have no idea how my posts appear on those systems. -

@deadsuperhero @schestowitz also familiarity with ubuntu as a desktop no doubt also helps to make it easier to get into companies as a server. If there are already Ubuntu desktop users in the company or familiar with it at home, etc. A known quantity. -

It's so annoying that ssh uses "-p" and scp uses "-P" for specifying port numbers. First world problems. -

@micahflee nice. I've only toyed with onionshare and it does seem quite simple to use. -

@kat @nds @grimsdottir the last four companies I worked for all ran either mostly GNU/Linux with a handful of Apple macbooks or in one case at least allowed me to run an Ubuntu desktop without much persuasion being needed. -
