@pettter Trying to hide lack of affinity behind tags probably isn't a good strategy. One thing to consider is that authoritarianism works primarily via self-censorship and control of the inner dialogue. -

I've had a good handful people asking me if I can help them set up a !postActiv instance and keep it going, and I've actually been reluctant to do this, for the reason that the sysadmin time for those instances would take away from my development time for postActiv (and my "day job" with HLA writing).
What StatusNet used to do is offered paid support of a kind, so I've embraced the spirit of my predecessor: those interested in having this done for them can find two new reward levels on the Patreon page: one for me to install it on a supported server you provide, and another for me to provide a VPS with it installed for you. If you're interested, check out the patreon page: patreon.com/postActiv
I'm not sure if there'll be interest for it as a paid thing, but I figure that's the fairest thing if you want me to actually do it for you. Of course, if you set it up yourself but run into problems, myself or others can still lend a hand if you ping the usergroup :) #postActiv -

@pettter crazy because it begins to give others leverage over what types of things you can post. Excessive tagging for the sake of accommodating others means that there is not enough affinity in the group and you should consider running more servers or creating more ! groups to cover the social topology appropriately. -

@deadsuperhero I hope if it does implode (which given the community dynamics I actually think is somewhat inevitable), someone will fork it and continue development. Its worth continued development. Just ... maybe not by the current team. -

@maiyannah @sim so in mastodonland users are supposed to spend time tagging their posts to deal with other people's phobias? That does sound crazy. -

"Because of my phobia, you must change your behaviour and content warn that so I feel better."
How about no? I'm not here to make you feel better about yourself, or to change my own behaviour to accommodate you. That's not fun for me. That might even set me off instead of you.
I don't go around expecting you to change your behaviour to accommodate me, so stop telling me that I have to for yours.
If I have genuinely triggered you while talking to you, then if you politely tell me to stop because of this reason then I will refrain from mentioning it in your mentions. But my timeline is mine. You're better off not associating with me, or finding other coping mechanisms when things get rough. I can sympathise with you, but I'm not going to change my behaviour for you here.
Phobias or panic attacks suck. I get that. But if a mention of something upsets you, then I'm not sure that public social media is the right place to be. If you don't want to cut yourself off completely, then taking it in short bursts and taking breaks when it becomes too much are ideal rather than expecting everyone else to accommodate you. -

@archaeme @moonman @hakui @animeirl I'm still amused that esr uses a GNU thing more than rms does -

@mike Discovered Twitter, poked around there a bit on a psedonym, eventually set up an account there to promote my games writing stuff. Posted around for a bit, fell semi afoul of censorous administration, and heard that GNU social was a thing. I'd been on identi.ca before, but I didn't really realize that it was part of a federated network at a time and in retrospect I hear a lot of people say that. But in any event GNU social was kind of a watershed moment for me in a way (am I using that term correctly?) in that I found some passion for programming again with it. I got burnt pretty hard with some project drama in the past and said sod it, but the whole idea of the Fediverse captivated me. And here I am a year later with my own fork of GNU social and a head full of ideas. I hope I can implement even half of them. -

Using Tor has effectively killed my bad habit of using google over duckduckgo because google is constantly giving me captchas -

@ti Google is becoming less relevant now. Here using Tor has gone from being a nicety to a necessity, given the way that the political situation has deteriorated. -

@parataxis I guess so: "It is able to close large loops and perform global relocalisation in real-time"
Practical robotic vision was always a necessary precursor to the next stage, which is point cloid perception, modeling and simulation of the environment. I know that ROS goes some of the way with that, although I havn't been keeping up with it in the last few years. -
