Reminder for !gnusocial / !postactiv admins: It would be a good idea to blackhole requests to/from 91.121.67.58 since it can otherwise mess up your queue and halt federation.

As Debian is switching MySQL to MariaDB I'm thinking of migrating !gnusocialde and to take that as an opportunity to move to a bigger machine.
Furthermore I'm still thinking about switching switching to !postactiv because of STOMP/RabbitMQ support.
Nothing decided yet, just to let you all know. -

Imagine #gnusocial / #postActive would look (beside a #microblog) like fully developed #rss, #json reader. I've just found #newsblur a couple of days ago.
You can organize your different streams, comment and share content with other users within the webpage. It's both a simple newsreader and a social annociated newsreader. You can follow people, and It's opensource....but it can't federate.
Just wanted to through this in. Cause I would really love if a !fediverse plattform could be used simliar like https://newsblur.com/ and as a blog.
I'm just curious, would it be for any of you of interest? Happy to hear your comments.

So, finally I opened pina.space for registrations. Beware that it's running nightly code and it's only a small VPS but I guess it's stable enough. We'll see... !postactiv -

@bob As you wrote debian_install.sh of !postactiv I'm asking you directly: wouldn't it make sense to have the queuedaemons running as www-data? Something like: 'su -c "sh scripts/startdaemons.sh" -s /bin/sh www-data' in https://gnusocial.de/url/3892793 -

For those !postActiv admins out there: pawoo.net seems to be engaging in a lot of data mining and that kind of pulling from databases via the API. If you wish to be proactive about protecting the privacy of your issues, you might want to block them or consider measures to limit their API access. The latter is very technical with the current state of the codebase however (I will have to consider proper much less complicated means to do so) If you wish to block them, you can get the current IPs from a DIG of their addresses. As always, the decision to block, impose other sanctions, or do nothing, is on individual instance admins, but do be aware they're doing that kind of thing. #postactiv -

Going to style the instance up all fancy, but plateia.org is up now! It's designed to be kind of the neutral instance/flagship thing/watering hole for postActiv - check it out! For those interested in continuing to follow my !postActiv development, I'll be posting dev things from the account there (@maiyannah@plateia.org) from hereon out (though it'll still be on the group unless I forget, or its daily rambling.) I'm going to divide the accounts into this one for HLA instance admin/gaming/personal stuff, and that one for postActiv development stuff, ostatus/federation talk/etc etc.
If you want to try out what postActiv has to offer, registrations will be open tomorrow (well, later today depending on timezones), after I've had a chance to spruce it up themewise and such. -

I've had a good handful people asking me if I can help them set up a !postActiv instance and keep it going, and I've actually been reluctant to do this, for the reason that the sysadmin time for those instances would take away from my development time for postActiv (and my "day job" with HLA writing).
What StatusNet used to do is offered paid support of a kind, so I've embraced the spirit of my predecessor: those interested in having this done for them can find two new reward levels on the Patreon page: one for me to install it on a supported server you provide, and another for me to provide a VPS with it installed for you.
