honestly if you think the death penalty has merit fuck you, you should be ashamed at your lack of humanity. Firstly death penalty is used to scare oppressed people into line, and it does no fucking good, it is pure evil even when murders are executed because it ignores so many socioeconomic, and psychobiology that leads someone down that path, why not fix the major underlying problem, also it is less privledged groups that recieve it most.

@Laurelai it is annoying that people are forgetting that libre software means freedom to reuse code, and derive from it so if people wish to fork and you don't neccessarily think it has merit you don't need to be involved if you don't wish to.

I think this calls for a mutualist coop as a mutualist coop would include the community not just the developers as the project governance.

@Laurelai I've seen a few suggesting a coop of sorts, I'd say maybe a mutualist coop would be the best type of coop for a fork.

people often freak that due to the increasing luminosity of the Sun that complex life will be absent in ~500-1000my from now, but complex life has existed so far for ~1000my, the Cambrian Explosion was ~500mya, that should give a scale of the timescale (note: this is how long until heat drives CO2 out of the atmosphere it'll return but long after most life is destroyed and when the sun is starting to cook the planet), humans, or decendents would be long left i'd hope.

The Tragedy of Commons was a thought experiment made by a proponent of unregulated capitalism, how ever several sociologist have shown it to hold no real truth in real systems. A sociologist/economist Elinor Ostrom got a Nobel prize for her work on looking at cases of commons in the real world.
