Andrew (R.S Admin) (ajroach42@retro.social)'s status on Friday, 31-Dec-2021 15:48:14 UTC Andrew (R.S Admin) When I say "A Better World is Possible" I mean that we must continue to believe and act as if a better world is possible, or it won't be.
It is possible, if we want it.

Their picks are a little stuffy for my tastes, but I'm glad such a thing exists.

Andrew (R.S Admin) (ajroach42@retro.social)'s status on Friday, 18-Dec-2020 19:03:17 UTC Andrew (R.S Admin) It's frustrating when a 10 year old computer can't get on facebook or watch 480p on youtube anymore, even thought it could five years ago.
The computer hasn't changed.
Facebook and youtube have become more complicated. They didn't need to, but they could get more complicated because the average computer got faster, and the average internet connection got faster over that time span.
So a computer that could do X lost it's ability to do X as a result of a third party.
That's frustrating.

I'm especially interested in low end/cheap stuff.
Does anything exist in the sub$10 range that is worth looking at? Ideally with on board storage?
I want to put together some set top boxes for playing media and games, as cheaply as possible. (I have two other related projects as well, I might talk about them in a few minutes, but something like a Chip is what I'm after.)

I didn't believe it.
I checked.
It appears to be true.
This is disgusting.

I have a lot more to say, specifically about software, and about actually making media, and I need to add a bunch of links to the hardware section.
I'm also still working on the "why" section, but that's a start.

Probably though, we should back up and do some requirements gathering. What do you need, what's your budget, what can't you compromise on?
I used to be good at fitting requirements to hardware. I could give it a shot again.

Andrew (R.S Admin) (ajroach42@retro.social)'s status on Sunday, 14-Jul-2019 19:07:20 UTC Andrew (R.S Admin) I don't know why, but this has been pretty heavy on my mind today.
So let's explore where I landed.
1) I'm assuming that this kind of a scenario, if it was widely known, would lead to mass chaos.
2) I'm not really interested in "how does the internet handle massive chaos", so I'm focusing on what activities I would undertake if I was one of a small group of people who knew this was coming.
3) This is a springboard for a larger idea. -

My feed is full of (legitimate) criticism of floss culture and communities, which is fine. I just need some entirely not tech stuff to balance it out.

I'd like to set some health and wellness goals for myself and track those automatically with sensors and software without being spied on.
Is there a product for me?

For the entire month of April the checker said "Your unit went in to production in April and will be delivered in May.
This database is updated weekly. Last update April 7th"

We will update the database on a weekly bases.
