@penguin42 The dmesg output for amdgpu looks all fine... I saw a couple of errors from the drm ring buffer, but I think I've seen them previously and they're harmless.

I'm not trying mesa-git, but @PeterCxy made me realize that I actually need to build mesa (either version) against llvm-15.

Ok, I booted a #Fedora #Rawhide live image, which has a pre-release kernel 6.2, and amdgpu acceleration works just fine out of the box.

I mean, the desktop renders, but it's using llvmpipe (software) compositing. Happens with both #Wayland and X11, both #KDE and #Sway.

Why? I couldn't figure from dmesg nor the journal...

@1lyaP I hooked up the RX 7900 XT and stressed it a little bit. Yes, it runs hot!

I'm mostly concerned that it blows hot air onto the CPU... I heard that the latest Nvidia RTX cards do the same.

How can this possibly be a good design?!?
