@socjuswiz I don't understand why he shoots lightning from his fingers and why his special move is to dance, which makes the enemies dance. then they die.

@s i really don't agree with this definition; the examples cited are very mixed and inconsistent.
Tor: sure, I guess, except that the entire reason why we have it is because the US Govt wanted wider usage so it wasn't so easy to identify activity of our spies. It's pretty mainstream now so I'd say it's not that cyberpunk.
Coreboot: Sure, get rid of binary blobs but there's no scary backdoors I'm concerned about. The Management Engine and its brethren should be controllable, but uninteresting. If someone's on your LAN I guess you've just been out cyber-punked
TPM: i've never given a shit about TPM personally or at any job
Disabling WiFi: what? Is cutting ethernet cables cyberpunk too?
Blowing open closed-source firmware: ok, reverse engineering is pretty cyberpunk
I agree Google Glass and IoT devices are not "cyberpunk", because they require clouds and corporations. But the equivalent functionality that is homebrewed? very cyberpunk.
Running a gameboy off fire? pretty fucking cyberpunk. https://cybre.space/@ky0ko/102834861178822026
Tinkering and building USEFUL things that you fully control: sure, that's cyberpunk
Modifying things that weren't meant to be, making them do things they weren't intended for? Yes, cyberpunk -

Boomers used to get offered jobs with better pay and benefits while on their lunch breaks.
If the job market was that amazing and unemployment truly a record low, wouldn't companies be competing for labor by fighting over who can give the best pay and benefits to attract applicants? Or have most Americans become wage slaves to a capitalism not held responsible for its rampant abuse of the American public? -

need #help with federation testing:
when I look for @grapefruit@sandy-heath.thurman.org.uk in the search bar in Mastodon, I don't see anything. But the Mastodon server requests and is served the activitypub json.
What am I missing? Does anyone know? Boost if you think your friends might know.
(That's a throwaway account for this example; don't bother following it)

Fun fact: you can't name any file anywhere in windows 10 "aux.txt" or "aux" anything with any extension, because it was a reserved name in CP/M before dos was a thing.
If you commit "aux.txt" to a git repo, you break it for windows users. If you distribute "aux.txt" in a zip file, windows computers cannot extract it without error.
