Big things happening at #QOTO I wanted to update everyone on.

So as most of you know I had a year long back injury that put a lot of QOTO plans on hold. But I've been healed and working on bringing much of that vision to reality.

As of a few weeks ago a few close friends and fellow engineers wanted to join the team. I am currently sitting with 3 other new engineers and we are working on bringing up several instances including peertube, nextcloud, gitlab, discourse, and of course a newer version of QOTO. A full collaboration suite for others in STEM and the open-source community. All for free to its users.

This launch will coincide with several of my other projects many of you follow including protowaffle, ROES, Graphactor, Aparapi, Ferma and many others. We will host all the source on QOTO as well as make it the source for future software announcements related to those products.

De todas formas, la GPL te garantiza 4 #libertades que van por sobre la legislacion local de un pais.

#USA prohible la exportacion de tecnologias de encriptacion y #PGP no podia usarse fuera de su territorio. Cuando aparecio #GPG se termino esa restriccion. Fin del problema.

Para #AOSP es lo mismo. #GAFAM tiene prohibido comerciar con #Huawei, pero TODAS las app #libres seguiran siendolo, aunque USA se ponga a llorar.

¿Pertenece el #OpenSorces a alguien?

De acuerdo a xataka ( https://n9.cl/5zd7 ) #Huawei no puede usar #AOSP de #GAFAM pues podria estar violando la #licencia #GPL ya que esta solo permite el uso de sus productos a los propios dueños unicamente.

En resumen, las patentes #libres son igual de privativas que las otras, segun los mentirosos y embusteros de Xataka.

Si quieren hacer propaganda y dedicarse a mentir, mejor que se cambien el titulo a Xataka hacemos #lobby para los poderosos

MIT/BSD/Apache is true freedom "You can have my code, no strings attached, do what you want with it, just promise you will tell people it is open-source and who wrote it!"

@NeoTheThird I didn't watch the video yet, and although you mention #Ubuntu, which isn't #FreeSoftware (per https://www.gnu.org/distros/common-distros.html#Ubuntu ), I do agree that bringing parts of #GNU is good, specially those under #AGPL-3.0-or-later and #GPL-3.0-or-later. Or foster #Replicant for general use instead of #LineageOS (or custom #ROMs), not even #Fuchsia is good according to Eben #Moglen (see https://media.libreplanet.org/u/libreplanet/m/the-free-software-movement-in-the-age-of-trump/ ).
