    The #LinuxDesktop community (both #GNOME and #KDE) has longstanding issues with QA and being out of touch with the workflows that are important to end-users, but it seems to me that Nate Graham setting an example for others to follow: every day he analyzes bug reports from users, politely asking for clarifications in many cases, fixes many of the trivial ones by himself, and brings high priority issues to the attention of the right developers.

    En lo que llevamos de 2021 se han lanzado KDE Gear 21.04 y KDE Gear 21.08 y ahora llega KDE Gear 21.12, como en las versiones previas, sin sorpresas apenas en lo que a protagonistas se refiere, pero con el suficiente jugo como para que los usuarios acérrimos del entorno reciban con ganas la actualización.

    #Tok: Un cliente libre de #Telegram especialmente hecho para #KDE #Plasma | Desde Linux

    Dado que, estamos seguros de que muchos apasionados Linuxeros y profesionales de TI suelen privilegiar el uso de Telegram y otras Apps de Mensajería, en detrimento de otras menos amigables como WhatsApp, solemos estar muy pendiente de las novedades de Telegram y otras. Y por eso hoy, hablaremos de «Tok».

    «Tok» es básicamente un nuevo Cliente de Telegram disponible para GNU/Linux, especialmente para el Entorno de Escritorio KDE, ya que, está construido usando Kirigami, la plataforma para desarrolladores de KDE.

    This time around I did #Xfce -> #GNOME -> #KDE/#Plasma.

    Maybe I will rotate back to Xfce eventually. Since both GNOME and KDE/Plasma have their ugly.
    BTW, KDE is very aggressive. Basically after you switch to KDE, there is some cleanup to be done in $HOME regarding configs. Since all gtk related stuff is infested by Breeze etc. bacially your GNOME looks like some sort of frankenstein monster. Not cool KDE!

    #KDE / #Plasma

    - Can poke all day configuring it
    - Very frequently doing the above one would step on some bug (which is expected given the large surface). So bugs all over the place.
    - Impossible to keep configuration reproducible (gazillion config files scattered in $HOME). I tried once to put in git - disastrous failure!
    - Font rendering getting better
    - Functionality at the expense of aesthetically pleasing looks

    KDE/Plasma 5.23 “25th Anniversary Edition” for Debian

    by Norbert Preining · 2021/10/21

    In the last week, KDE released version 5.23 – 25th Anniversary Edition – of the Plasma desktop with the usual long list of updates and improvements. This release celebrates 25 years of KDE, and Plasma 5.23.0 was released right on the day 25 years ago Matthias Ettrich sent an email to the de.comp.os.linux.misc newsgroup explaining a project he was working on. And Plasma 5.23 (with the bug fix 5.23.1) is now available for all Debian releases. (And don’t forget KDE Gears/Apps 21.08!)
