ActivityPub can be confusing and/or hard to test or develop against.
I started a new side project called FediDB to help Pixelfed and other implementations debug federation issues.
It will be launching soon, need to test DMs and Federated Stories in Pixelfed 😅
I'm eager to work with other projects on this!

AndStatus v.55.01 Beta with "ActivityPub Client to Server improvements".

1. This release was focused on supporting new and improved #ActivityPub features that appeared both in #Pleroma and, surprisingly, in #Mastodon also. You can really start experimenting with ActivityPub social network type if you have an account at Pleroma site with latest v.2.x Pleroma builds... Posting with image attachments works.

2. Mastodon (not AndStatus!) doesn't give you enough features to switch client connection to ActivityPub simply because Home timeline and posting via ActivityPub connection is not supported yet (corresponding pages give 404 Not found error).
But you can see our own posts on Mastodon servers and navigate to other Actors and their post via them (you can see profiles of other Actors and see their posts...). You can even play with Mastodon as an "ActivityPub" type Social network in AndStatus today! But prepare to see empty Home timeline and to be read-only there for now. Switch to "Sent" timeline and see your Actor's posts, see other actors and their posts similarly...
These new Mastodon improvements make me very optimistic about the future of ActivityPub in client apps across all server platforms.

3. Some important fixes, including more Avatars and Images will be shown.

4. More convenience for developers. Logging of network level messages (including response headers) improved. Even file names with responses are much clearer now, e.g. 2020-04-25-03-34-51-663_social.tulsa.ok.us-oauth_register_client_response.json or 2020-04-25-03-35-02-235_mastodon.technology-get_actor_response.json (real names from my log). Remember that logs are stored for 10 days and can be optionally included in a Backup!

@licho #Mastodon 3.x and #Pleroma 2x no longer speak the #OStatus federation protocol. !GNUsocial 2.0 will add the #ActivityPub federation protocol, so ask your admin to be ready to upgrade soon.

My vision is to publically provide data protection documents and templates for your application hosting and processing initiatives and so help you application hosters to more easily get into this dry stuff.

For now there is just information for Pleroma and Mastodon hosters. Templates exist for the data privacy statement and next will be the records of processing activities, both are a must have for hosters.

@coolboymew I heard recently that #AndStatus doesn't work properly with Pleroma as with "Mastodon type" social network. Didn't investigate this...
But since last year #Pleroma is adding #ActivityPub #C2S (Client to Server) interface, and AndStatus has basic support for this type, checked and tested with Pleroma team! See https://github.com/andstatus/andstatus/issues/499

@titi @colegota @drymer @spla @tarteka @tuttle @xaloc si titi. Hace años en estas migraciones se vendia igual. Cuando identi.ca se vendia como alternativa a twitter, con gnusocial y qvitter más de lo mismo. Con mastodon de nuevo alternativa a twitter. Pero #pleroma no ha gozado de venderse aún como la alternativa a twitter :D.

A eso me refiero. A que en una de estas oleadas le tendría que tocar venderse como tal. O vivir siempre a la sombra del mastodonte.

Voy a mantener esta instancia #pleroma por solidaridad con la gente que aún queda por #gnusocial . Para no perder el contacto.

Finalmente no eliminaré esta cuenta ni la instancia. No obstante estaré posiblemente más activo en @fanta

En mi opinión, ya podemos considerar #Pleroma v1.1.6 como 100% usable y estable, sin problema alguno en su funcionamiento.
Mastodon ya tiene un serio competidor.

- Me encanta que me hagas esa pregunta Boby. Desde que me pasé de #gnusocial a #pleroma todo ha cambiado. Ahora soy una persona nueva.

Cuando la gente se cambia avatares los veo inmediatamente. Puedo hablar con gente de otros nodos, e incluso gente humana no solamente bots de RMS. Todo son ventajas.
