To all our new users, if you write q well thought out #introductions post (make sure you use the hash tag for exposure) and include a list of your interests (especially STEM interests since #QOTO is mostly STEM professionals) I will be happy to boost it.

Similarly if you made such a post and I didnt boost it just give ma a poke and I'll be happy to consider boosting it.

I want all the new users to feel they have a hand making some new friends and getting started in the community.

@realcaseyrollins As long as you are equally accepting of the pride of non-straights then I'd have no issue with a shirt like this.

My problem is for many, and perhaps this includes you, it would be done to mock gay pride or to be antagonistic towards it. If that is the intent thent here is an issue.

FYI the relevant effects of alkaseltzer/tablet is that it is a mixed powder made of a powder/solid acid and a powder/solid base. Usually weak. Baking soda (sodium bicarbonate) and citric acid powders pressed into a tablet would give the same effect.

It is oil + water with blue food coloring + alka seltzer or similar tablet.

We are seeing a nice little spike in new users here at #QOTO the last several hours. About a 3x increase in new users or so.

Am I the only one who sometimes finds himself reading sentences or paragraphs in reverse order, not even realizing your doing it, and still completely understand what you just read.

I sometimes read the last sentence or paragraph first just to see if the ending is exciting or unique enough to be worth reading the whole thing, then i just work my way backwards until I get to the top.

Probably though a bit less intentional than that. Someone made it up as a joke and it stuck and spread i suspect.

@Wetrix I dont buy it for a second, especially considering that the prison-origin story has mutate several times since its original telling. Used to be explained because belts werent allowed in prison, now its explained as an explicit initiation rite. Neither seem plasuable to me and there is no good source linking it to prison.

Earliest evidence of it was from the skating and hip-hop communities in the 90's. Its connection with hip-hop may havee made people assume or make up a story about prison as a result. It seems more likely it was just artists dressing absurdly on stage, as they tend to do, and people emulating it.

Its more than a config file but it is just a one line change. I will do it when i do our v3 upgrade I'm just terribly busy right now. I'll put aside a few hours this weekend and see how far the upgrade gets

Metal wouldnt be any colder than plastic, it would just change temperature more quickly. But after a night of cold their temperatures would be the same. Also to get really big crystals youd want it to not be too cold, just barely freezing for an extended period of time. For this reason the plastic likely helped this effect as it insulated slightly from the cold for a little bit allowing the water to cool down more slowly.
