Anyone have a good link for understanding this properly? -

Fantastic talk. We all should learn a thing or two from it.

And, of course, that's exactly what he did.
https://github.com/seymoe/reactpress/pull/1
https://github.com/asleepysamurai/yass-gen/pull/1
https://github.com/stevenalexander/stevenalexander.github.io/pull/3
The last one is pretty fun because he just replaces a broken link with his link, but just says "fixed broken link". -

Just received an email notifying me that someone made a PR to Pitch. Good!.
But when I check what is it, I'm at start confused.

But there are other things that shouldn't be delegated. At least, not delegated by everyone to a single entity. That's why I think that federation is a good alternative. It's still delegating responsability of your social media on other people, but at least isn't as centralised as Facebook, and it's easier to develop a trustworthy relationship with your administrator in tinier instances.
At this point, humans need some level of delegation (and therefore, trust) to not collapse. -
Carlos Fdez Llamas (sirikon@plaza.remolino.town@plaza.remolino.town)'s status on Monday, 01-Apr-2019 12:50:58 UTC Carlos Fdez Llamas I think that the biggest issue on over-centralization of communication, social media, culture, and the big techs in general, isn't technical, but social in terms of individual responsibility.
People doesn't want to be responsible of their data, their photos, their own culture, their information.
It's not that they can't. It's that they don't want to.
So it's easier to delegate to someone like Google.
Google is a generally more delegated and easier way to have photos, information and authentication solved, which are hard problems in terms of usability and availability.
So it really grinds my gears when someone yells at people like "come ON this is so EASY to do" to every individual using Google, when it's *not* that easy to get away of those platforms, maybe you know the technical details to do it, but don't expect a huge percent of the population understanding all the required steps to remove Google and Facebook from your life.
That said, appreciate every person that works towards and easier way for users to be responsible of their own data, even when their technical implementations aren't "perfect" or even far from good. Most of those problems can be fixed later, because what this people understood is the responsibility issue, which is harder to figure out later. -

The basic idea is, make a function that returns another function.
This way, instead of passing a normal, always-the-same function as a callback to get called eventually, you can "parametrize" the passed function giving extra context.
Here you can see that "echo" returns another function, but that returned function will know about that paremeter sended to "echo". -
