@hakui @dolus @8zu TBH state funded university is completely possible. It's a thing here and no one complains, because the results speak for themselves. However that means you can't have 2500 universities all over the country, you need to have only a few that are state-run and let the rest be private and paid for. Here you can get into the private ones more easily the more you pay, or you can work really hard for the public ones, so a public university degree is worth more and everyone knows the person who has it earned it. Anyone who complains about "muh kid" is told to stop whinning because it isn't the state's fault that their kid is dumb.
Idiots will always resent their betters anyway, but that only matters if the state is weak enough to give a crap. -

@boco It is, and it also risks a total cultural meltdown. It has happened multiple times in the past, but the damage was mitigated by that separation. Back then, if one culture crumbled and lost years of progress, there were still others that kept that knowledge so it'd be rediscovered (A good example being the dark ages, and rediscovering tech that Rome and Greece had from the arabs that had retained that knowledge)
However if you force the world to become one single culture, any such event will kick the entirety of humanity centuries back. It took the world over a thousand years to re-develop ball bearings for example, which were present in classical age sailing ships, so it's not a risk that should be taken at all. -

I mean, we'd all benefit from it. We can agree to stay off eachother's lands and business and be happy in our respective continents, trading with eachother and such, letting every country have their own culture without anyone bitching about it. -
