Just discovered there’s a mod for the TekWar fps from the 90s that supposedly improved it and now I’m determined to make people play William Shatner’s TekWar with me

WOLFCLAW is a free game created by Heather Flowers and Noé Charron for the 7Day FPS 2024 jam. You are a werewolf ghost and must claw and eat enemies and possess enemies when the health in your current body is too low. Keep playing until you die and try to get a high score

I suppose this is going to be my indie game recommendation thread where I keep replying to this with stuff I've been enjoying lately. Everything in here will eventually show up in roundups on my blog https://virtualmoose.org/

Santatron 2024 is a brand new game for the Amiga inspired by the classic Robotron. Clear rooms of enemies and saves elves to go to the next level. Just a really solid arcade game and fun excuse to fire up my Amiga emulator (WinUAE). Available as Pay-What-You-Want

The Anchorite is a very short point-and-click adventure made for the AdventureX jam. Can't say much without spoiling it but I enjoyed the mystery and was impressed by the artwork for this game made in two weeks. Free and playable in the browser

Die for the Economy is a new game inspired by the classic arcade game Berzerk, featuring psychedelic pixel art and all the robot voices you would hope for from one of these types of games. I played it a bit this morning and it's probably the best Berzerk-inspired game I've ever played. I love the humor about how much capitalism sucks and the difficulty levels make this approachable for any arcade game fan

Alien Intruder is a new game for DOS where you save people from aliens and get to the exit. It's free, really easy to pick up, and it's always fun for me to fire up DOSBox to play a new game

@dosnostalgic I was shocked by that. The other unexpected change was how the machine gun works, unless I’m misremembering how it pushed your aim up

@dosnostalgic I thought it was interesting that Scott Miller doesn't seem to be too fond of the new 3D Realms. I suspect he dislikes them for different reasons than I do (the weird free speech stance they took when homophobic jokes were found in Ion Maiden) but I think this is the first time I've seen him mention it.

Also George seems like he's trying to pivot to making adventure games and ahhhhh please don't

    1. The Truth About Duke Nukem Forever — Apogee Entertainment
      from Scott Miller, Apogee (Founder)
Looks like someone leaked a build of Duke Nukem Forever from 2001. DNF was an ambitious money pit of a game that eventually killed the original 3D Realms/Apogee.

I think that at this rate in a month I'll be making posts like "they sure don't make adventure games like they did during golden age of the genre" and posting screenshots like this without any irony. I'm just having a really good time revisiting this era of freeware adventure games
