AndStatus
@6gain AndStatus doesn't show an image if the image isn't downloaded yet. Sometimes it skips timeline refreshing in order not to do such updates too often... this is when manual update is needed ( via "Refresh from cache").
It looks like I need to make automatic "Refresh from cache" more intelligent. -

@thelovebug@s.wefamlee.be The problem with opening the Combined Mentions view is caused by outdated implementation of Notifications in AndStatus. Currently "notification items" don't have information on an account, so AndStatus has to open the Combined view.
I plan to start improving this in the next release...

@4slam Yes, this is how the "Quitter" Web interface extention is designed. Unfortunately, it works for itself only (i.e. for visiting GNU Social instance via a Web browser) and doesn't help other client applications e.g. AndStatus.

@6gain My understanding is that GNU Social server tries to resolve users using its local database. It linkifies a user, if it finds his/her information locally...

@4slam I think that quitter.se continues its experiments in its treatment of the long posts... just like Twitter does ;-) -

@mcnalu @maiyannah @kevie I'm back on @andstatus now, it's not as "pretty" as Twidere, but it's definitely a GNUsocial client not a Twitter client with compatible features. -

@notnavigium @andstatus @kevie @maiyannah @mcnalu I found Twidere too much of a pain in the arse to set up... Andstatus just worked. -

Due to the announced shutting down of the LoadAverage.org GNU Social site we are considering a new place for the AndStatus project main posting account at GNU Social.
Further updates will be posted here and to the project's Home page: http://andstatus.org/ -

AndStatus@Quitter.no
@colegota As I understand, this is not AndStatus, but a GNU Social server (quitter.es in your case) that "linkifies" your message and creates hidden href link attribute.
AndStatus linkifies plain-text messages only. In a case of GNU Social it uses already linkified/HTMLified text, provided by a server.
Anyway, could you explain this feature in more details? I mean, I need concrete example pairs, each consising of:
1. String that you type in AndStatus
2. URL that you want this string to point to after the "linkifying" -

#AndStatus v.32.00 (205) "Sync older messages" published to the Open Beta testing channel https://play.google.com/apps/testing/org.andstatus.app
What's new:
1. AndStatus now can download older messages of a Timeline. When a User have scrolled down to the oldest message of a timeline, the "Sync older messages" button is shown, which allows to request next page of older messages from a server. This may seem like a must have feature, but due to ability to store previously downloaded messages as long as a User wishes, it was not frequently requested. In fact, ability to view older messages may be needed mostly during the first day-two of AndStatus application usage, when there is not much data stored yet. #354
2. In order to simplify creation of new accounts, a long list of available "Social Networks" is divided into the three groups: Twitter, Pump.io and GNU Social. Now, when a User starts addition of a new account, he/she is prompted to select a "Type of Social Network" first. After this selection only social Networks of the selected type are shown. Actually, only one Social Network of Twitter and of Pump.io types are preconfigured after installation, so there is no need to select the only instance. But there are 7 preconfigured instances of GNU Social servers. Additional "Social networks" may be added by a User. #212
3. Another round to simplify AndStatus adoption by new Users.
* A form to add new account cleaned from irrelevant data. Added the "Home timeline" button showing a way to proceed after successful account creation.
* Added "Manage AndStatus accounts in Android Settings" item to Settings -> Accounts section.
* When you are creating new account and stay in a Web view, you can switch to another application (e.g. to lookup password) and back to continue account creation.
4. Fixed a case when Twitter message appeared truncated. #212 -

Fired up #AndStatus on the Pixel. #Twidere is much prettier, but AndStatus is much more native to !GNUsocial -

@gargron You have a very weird way of using atom:summary as a "spoiler tag" in my opinion. I can sort of see the reasoning for it, but it's wildly out of touch with the original spec, and have _very_ weird effects when users start using it in creative ways (see e.g. @jephjacques joke-stuff) and it doesn't interoperate properly.
Considering its use in the above instances, could you also send the "summary" as part of the content? That is, as it is shown on your web when showing a specific notice?
Neither Mustard nor AndStatus seem to handle it as you do, and neither does any of the GS web clients. -

@lnxw48a1 Most of upgrade problems, as I understand, were caused by ease to interrupt the upgrade process. Recently I made upgrade far less depending on User's patience :-)
