    The #AndStatus dev seems to overcome previous upgrades' issue. I've upgraded at least twice without breakage (which rarely if ever happened before).

    @archaeme User experience is the main difference. E.g. for me it is always very inconvenient to search for "the second similar application" only because Operating System is unable to setup two copies of the same application, that I love, for different purposes...

    @archaeme BTW, Public and Private channels could both be implemented by the same software, but different instances of that software, reliably separated. This led me to the idea that even on Android device a User should be able to install e.g. TWO "AndStatus clients" as two different Android applications with fully separated accounts, settings and content... I hope, in Android this could be achieved by switching between Users of an Android device (e.g. "Me" and "Private me")

    @colegota In AndStatus Settings -> Gestures we do have "Enter key sends message" setting. Turn it off to have line breaks in your messages. https://loadaverage.org/attachment/3439700

    If you want to see the timeline for selection in the future, go to "Manage Timelines" and turn on "Display" option of this timeline.

    @mama21mama Initially only "Public combined" timeline is created.
    If you want to see and sync Public timeline of concrete server:
    1. Turn "Combined" on in the Navigation Drawer
    2. Switch to account on that server/"instance"
    3. Turn "Combined" off. Now you see Public Timeline of that instance (not synced yet)
    4. Tap "Sync with Internet" in the Action bar to sync the Public timeline. https://quitter.no/attachment/898367

    @rozzin You provided URL for one of more than 20 APIs (actions/requests...), which should work properly in order to tell that "it is supported".
    Last year I created the task for AndStatus to "Use Activity Streams API for GNU Social", please read: https://github.com/andstatus/andstatus/issues/378
    But after initial discussion, including here in GNU Social, I've got that actually no full-featured client exists that uses ActivityStreams json APIs and hence it would be naïve to assume that the API "works". No GNU Social developer told me: "Just start implementation from your side, I will add and fix, what will be needed, at the GNU Social server side".
    In fact, very annoying bug / deficiency in the "search" of the "supported" Twitter-compatible API stays not even commented by developers for 7 months https://git.gnu.io/gnu/gnu-social/issues/206
    I guess now you understand, why I think that ActivityStreams json format is not supported (cannot tell about AtoPub...)

    @archaeme Implementation of ActivityStreams-based client API for GNU Social could potentially reduce fragmentation, if implemented at least similarly to how it was done in Pump.io. This could lead to logical (at least from User's point of view) merge of GS and Pump.io instances in one "socialverse"...

    @archaeme I would be happy if API of Mastodon was better than "Twitter compatible" that GS clients use. Unfortunately, it is just different and as bad as the former.
    As I wrote, "What I cannot understand is creation in 2016 a system and its API, using approaches of the past, for which we already have far better implementation concepts. Usage of URIs/GUIDs is one of them." More details - in this discussion: https://github.com/andstatus/andstatus/issues/419

    @rozzin We are talking about client API. It's "Twitter compatible" and there are no "Activity streams" there yet. BTW AndStatus does support Activity Streams API to connect to Pump.io.

    @kris Filters don't prevent messages from being downloaded. Filters only hide these messages from a Timeline. But you will still see them in the Conversation view.
