We use LDAP.
@xzenor Thats the beauty of it. Its not how much we we expect the cup of coffee to cost but how much you expect it to cost. It is up to you, how much you value our work, and how much you can afford.
Exactly because money value differs so much not only based on your location but your financial possibility, we intentionally do not put a price tag.
In simple terms. Get us at least one cup of coffee (or any beverage of your choice) a month, just like you would if you were to invite us for one :)

In order to push the project to another level and keep the project healthy we do need to find a way to fund our work while not hindering principles we stand behind.

That said, seeing how much time we spent on disroot (some of us clock over 40 hours a week on disroot), and how much we are pationate about it, it's no suprise we would like to turn it into our main occupation. Living two (and in some cases three or four) lifes is very exhausting. Doing two full time jobs in one day is exhausting.

@wu_lee @bhaugen @richdecibels @nicksellen @mike_hales @protean
@strypey
... As for funding. On one hand it is amazing. The monthly costs are entirely paid form donations, and we have managed to save up quite a sum of money for future hardware upgrades or legal costs if we need to. This provides a good safety net for now. ...

2 extra weeks also give us the feeling of having more time to focus on things. Also we did grow (currently from 2 to 4 people) however atm the number of admins have not changed (its a long process we are planning for next year).

...So apart from regular maintained, we also work on improvements constantly in two week periods, no weekends, no days off, constant grind. This has it's benefits but recently started causing a burnout and the feeling of being overwhelmed and not able to keep up with the tempo. So in order to make it less mad tempo wise we decided to change to 4 week sprints, which means instead of meeting weekly we now meet bi-weekly. ...

It depends how you look at it.
Workload wise, of course disroot is taking more and more time as it matures and grows. It's also (as we mention in the blog post) our onw fault to keep pushing with 120% of power instead of doing it a bit more calmly. We work on disroot in continuous development.

@nikolal Depends how you look at it :P
We've located the root cause and managed to put a workaround in place. This is not a permanent solution and needs some more testing and consultation with nextcloud devs. But it is working ok now.
Registrations have been re-opened.
🔆 Good news everyone.🔆
Yesterday we have found the root cause of the issue and managed to put the load significantly down, resulting in operational nextcloud \o/
This is however a workaround rather then permanent fix, but since the issue is identified it will be much easier to get proper long term solution in place.
Just small update though no breakthroughs.
After sleepless nights we have still not manage to find the root cause. Even though we've done quite some gymnastics over this and tried many things.
So as they say, The Saga continues!

Just a short update on the performance issue on cloud. As you might have noticed our cloud instance is slow and unstable at the moment.We are working together with nextcloud developers as well as few other instances that are affected by it, trying to find a root cause. Hopefully soon we'll have a working fix and everything will go back to normal.

Hmmm... Made ticket on this so we'll try to check. https://board.disroot.org/project/disroot-disroot/issue/2392
Generally if you are on linux we would advice using dino.im or gajim but understandly if you're on KDE side thats not ideal.
@fede you're KDE fanboy, can you check it?
Totally forgot to post it here:

@witziege if you are worried you can always use client side encryption to secure your data.
There're many alternatives available (from more manual and technical https://nuetzlich.net/gocryptfs/comparison/ to dedicated programs like ex. #cryptomator)
Personally I use #gocryptfs, but just for one folder with personal data, synced on all my devices (ex. https://blog.xmgz.eu/gocryptfs-cifrar-nube/ )
