All affected users have been informed. So if you havent gotten an email from us, it means you haven't missed any emails.

Due to human error during short system outage between 15:32 - 15:45 UTC yesterday, all emails queued up for delivery have been deleted. We have been trying to recover from this situation but unfortunately all mention emails were irreversibly deleted.

We are very sorry this has happened, especially that it was purely a human mistake at play here. We have taken steps to prevent this from happening in the future.

@bsm Yeah. It was actually our mistake. We have decided to switch off registration for weekends but once we did so, we forgot to approve pending users from friday.

@abbenm Works here. Please let us know your username (through support_at_disroot.org if you dont want to reveal your username to the public) so we could check, though it should work. (are you using some non default folder to keep notes in?)

@freenando75 @maryjane @disroot currently pur signup on diaspora is off due to spam attack and hubzilla is not yet ready for wide audience, we do not promote it publicly yet becasue not everything is yet working as we want it. Plus we dont want to get people on just to later decide we want to try something else. So unless we are not sure ourself, its better not. And as for diaspora, maybe spreading the load on smaller pods would make more sense.

Yes. Diaspora has not been happy lately. Its on our board for upcomming two weeks to fix it up so hopefully it will run faster, though we are pivotting more and more towards hubzilla at this point.

if every registered account would buy us a cup of coffee a month, not only we could buy awesome hardware to run disroot on, quit our jobs to focus 100% on disroot and projects accelerating the alternative movement, we would have enough to donate big chunk to foss projects we use daily to provide you the service which would in turn fuel better and faster development of applications we all use and love.

@shevek If you dont use News app, there is nothing to fetch therefore you dont have to worry about it. You can also disable it from menu in your personally settings in nextcloud.

But like said before. If you use News app, just think about it and dont subscribe to everything you can as you wont be able to read through it anyway. Also cleanup every now and then and everyone will be happy. Basically Don't litter! And this applies to everything.

@shevek I think it's all falling into common sense application. If you really use and read the feeds its all ok.

For example, there is a user subscribed to 8000 feeds. That produces few hundred thousand news items per week. Its impossible for that user or anyone to read them So why have them. The other thing is that feeds that are read are removed form the server, but if you phisically cannot read through 200 000 feeds a week, they will stay and pile up.

We'll send an announcement probably around the evening or tomorrow anyway so we can test it out.

Oops seems like @disroot_state had mastodon federation off, hence no posts sent to mastodon since december.

It's back on so from now on following that account will give you automatic updates on issues, downtimes, etc. You do need to follow it in order to see the post (required for hubzilla to mastodon federation).
