AndStatus@Quitter.no (andstatus@quitter.no)'s status on Thursday, 02-Mar-2017 05:24:58 UTC AndStatus@Quitter.no @bob Automatic syncing can be easily turned off for individual or for all accounts (like for any account in Android), but AndStatus has even more interesting options, if you don't want to see automatic syncing, when you are using the application. It's Settings -> Syncing -> "Syncing indicator in a Timeline" and even "Sync while using AndStatus"

pettter ✅ (pettter@social.umeahackerspace.se)'s status on Tuesday, 14-Feb-2017 20:15:07 UTC pettter ✅ @gargron You have a very weird way of using atom:summary as a "spoiler tag" in my opinion. I can sort of see the reasoning for it, but it's wildly out of touch with the original spec, and have _very_ weird effects when users start using it in creative ways (see e.g. @jephjacques joke-stuff) and it doesn't interoperate properly.
Considering its use in the above instances, could you also send the "summary" as part of the content? That is, as it is shown on your web when showing a specific notice?
Neither Mustard nor AndStatus seem to handle it as you do, and neither does any of the GS web clients. -
Michael Vogel (heluecht@pirati.ca)'s status on Monday, 30-Jan-2017 09:13:33 UTC Michael Vogel I think we should always support the GNU Social API - but it seems like a good idea to have a new API as well. Having this ActivityStreams thing as server-to-server and server-to-client sounds like a good idea.
I would like to start with pump.io compatibility since there are clients for it. -
AndStatus@Quitter.no (andstatus@quitter.no)'s status on Monday, 06-Feb-2017 05:43:31 UTC AndStatus@Quitter.no @mama21mama Oops, after step 1 you should switch to "Public combined" timeline.
If you want to see the timeline for selection in the future, go to "Manage Timelines" and turn on "Display" option of this timeline. -
AndStatus@Quitter.no (andstatus@quitter.no)'s status on Monday, 06-Feb-2017 05:33:11 UTC AndStatus@Quitter.no @mama21mama Initially only "Public combined" timeline is created.
If you want to see and sync Public timeline of concrete server:
1. Turn "Combined" on in the Navigation Drawer
2. Switch to account on that server/"instance"
3. Turn "Combined" off. Now you see Public Timeline of that instance (not synced yet)
4. Tap "Sync with Internet" in the Action bar to sync the Public timeline. https://quitter.no/attachment/898367 -
AndStatus@Quitter.no (andstatus@quitter.no)'s status on Thursday, 26-Jan-2017 18:43:46 UTC AndStatus@Quitter.no @mama21mama@legadolibre.com.ar In order to see Public Timeline of some GNU Social instance in AndStatus you should add to AndStatus an account at that instance. -
AndStatus@Quitter.no (andstatus@quitter.no)'s status on Thursday, 26-Jan-2017 16:41:19 UTC AndStatus@Quitter.no @mama21mama Do you mean that you don't know how to switch to Public Timeline?
Actually only "Public combined" timeline is created by default. So switch to it first and then turn off "combined" checkbox in the Navigation Drawer (pullable menu on the left side) https://quitter.no/attachment/870923 -
AndStatus@Quitter.no (andstatus@quitter.no)'s status on Monday, 23-Jan-2017 06:16:28 UTC AndStatus@Quitter.no @vloev I remember our conversation on a proper name for a "GNU Social instance", Twitter and Pump.io from a client application's (AndStatus) point of view.
And you know, each GNU Social instance _today_ is a Social network AND the whole Pump.io is ONE Social network (although it also has federated architecture).
Because each Social network has its own Users and messages. Yes, Twitter-like client API of GNU Social leads to inability to see a federation as one Social network.
More on this in this API discussion: https://github.com/andstatus/andstatus/issues/419

AndStatus@Quitter.no (andstatus@quitter.no)'s status on Wednesday, 26-Oct-2016 18:08:45 UTC AndStatus@Quitter.no @tuxxus I'm a developer of AndStatus Android client for GNU social, and looking at your Fediverse map at https://www.fediverse.org I thought that maybe it would be a good idea to allow AndStatus to load information on working GNU Social instances from your site (on a User's request) in order to ease configuration of user accounts in AndStatus.
For about a year I used the service at http://gstools.org/api/get_open_instances for this but it is down for a long time already...
What do you think?
Please see here, how this was done using gstools service: https://github.com/andstatus/andstatus/issues/84
