@codewiz @globalc The UK regulators are requiring some form of blocking; it's explicitly listed in a letter from Ofcom apparently: https://www.aa.net.uk/etc/news/uk-sanctions-law-aa-and-domain-blocking/

@codewiz What are you using instead of gitk? I did like Tk; it's still the easiest to program GUI system; I wrote a LOT of tcl/tk in ~2000 for a prototype/bringup system.

@codewiz Hang on, give me an explanation of dynamic throw and the changes in RAII, move semantics and smart pointers; I remember RAII was a thing long long ago in C++; that's mostly disappeared hasn't it?

@codewiz I don't think exceptions are that bad as long as you only use them for things that are exceptional.

@codewiz Haha how does Vimto manage to get over there; it's celebrated as Manchester's local special: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vimto

      Vimto
Vimto is a soft drink first sold in Lancashire in the United Kingdom. It was first manufactured as a health tonic in cordial form, then decades later as a carbonated drink. It contains the juice of grapes, raspberries and blackcurrants (in a 3% concentration), flavoured with herbs and spices. The original recipe was invented in 1908 by John Noel Nichols. Nichols grew up in the Scottish town of Shortridge. Vimto has also been made into a sweet (made under licence by McCowan's) and an ice lolly. It is available in cans and bottles and as a draught soft drink in pubs. History Vimto was created in 1908 in Manchester by John Noel Nichols (1883–1966), a wholesaler of herbs, spices and medicines. He saw the market opening for soft drinks due to the temperance movement and the passage of the 1908 Licensing Act. It was originally sold under the name Vim Tonic, which Nichols shortened to 'Vimto' in 1912. Vimto was originally registered as a health tonic or medicine, which was then re-registered in 1913 as a cordial. In 1910, production moved to a warehouse at Chapel Street, Salford, then to Old...

@codewiz Yeh I've seen that in a few emulators -- the objects are tangible; they actually correspond to chips you can pick up, and then to subcomponents in those devices. [Until you find something crazy that is, like the x86 running one of it's address lines to the keyboard controller]

@codewiz @benoit @globalc Surely it's easier to sell and rebuy; what are the chances of a good monitor surviving a transcontinental ride anyway?
