I know, I run into these situations a lot on here. Mastodon is so full of really nice semi-hidden features π

The Librem 5 was included for a very long time.
I sent Purism several messages over weeks asking for clarification because I didn't want to remove their listing, but they never replied π
Their eventual public blog statement about the controversy was incredibly vague, and they fail to even mention the real problem: Purism are willing to provide social media for neo-Nazis.
I just can't support a company who allows promotion of genocide. Genocide is a line in the sand for me.

I could be wrong, but I think you have to install the open OS manually? This could be difficult for non-tech people.
If it comes with the Fairphone by default, then yes it's a better option π

I'm sorry, I should have added instructions for that.
The alt text for the eye icon is "Show more for all". Hopefully your screen reader detects this.

Woo!! Thank you, didn't notice that one!
π
I guess having both options is good though as some may not want *all* content warnings expanded, just in particular threads.

When you're reading a thread full of content warnings in Mastodon, do you get annoyed at having to open each warning one by one?
There's a really easy way to open all the warnings in a thread at once:
1. Go to the thread
2. Click on the eye-shaped icon in the top right corner to toggle all warnings open or closedThat's it!

Protonmail gave a pretty strongly worded response to this, it sounds like the article isn't exactly accurate:

One thing with federating if you're doing a family server, it may be better not to use relay servers. There can be quite offensive material on the relays, especially from Diaspora.
(Relays send your server posts from instances you don't follow.)

As far as I know, individual servers federate just fine. I follow some users on here who run their own Friendica instance.

It works really nicely, the RSS stories just appear in your feed as if they were official accounts posting. You can even share them with other users.

I'd love to be wrong about this because it's important to have diversity in alternatives.
But I'm not sure what they've done in the past year except bug fixes and minor tweaks?

Diaspora is faster but it doesn't do as much, it doesn't link to the Fediverse and it doesn't seem to be in development any more :(
There's occasional bugfixes, but not much more.

Try these:
https://fediverse.network/friendica
https://the-federation.info/friendica
(By the way, the "Spraci" instance seems to be some kind of anomaly.)

Hey, not everyone wants a Facebook interface :)
One of the nice things about the Fediverse is letting people on different interfaces talk to each other on a single network.
Also, Friendica might be useful if you know someone who wants to leave Facebook. The jump from FB to Friendica is much smaller than from FB to Mastodon etc.
