@Shamar @how I think that it would get better if we free our #JavaScript according to #LibreJS and use #ProgressiveEnhancement, so most stuff can be done without #JS, even forms, no need for #CAPTCHA. @matthew_d_green This abuse was done thanks to client-side browser auto-execution of some programs (mostly in #JavaScript) which aren't #FreeSoftware, or not clearly marked as such for the website's user. Either #FreeJS so as to respect #LibreJS markup, or #KillJS ... But make sure to kill any client-side browser language that doesn't expect implementations to behave the same as #LibreJS.

@strypey i also like the approach used by #Kallithea, also because it aims from the very start to be #LibreJS compliant, or clearly indicated #FreeJS with license notices and complete corresponding source files of the #JavaScript.

@skynebula @adfeno @GeoffreyDorne I don't think that's a good idea since web based stuff sometimes are made to work only with non-free #JavaScript (or the not-correctly-marked as free/libre per #LibreJS tests), combine this with auto execution and #Spectre and #Meltdown and you have the perfect "take this stuff and run it without questioning/changing otherwise you cannot easily use our services" scenario. APIs won't make it different since the owner can change it.

@cwebber i don't know why most #Mastodon "about" pages to access any script or be dynamic. These pages have maintainer's contact information, and if Mastodon software fails, since it's the same building the "about" page, this one might as well be unavailable, and in this case people need to take note of the contact information beforehand. #WhatsTheFix ? Suggestion: make the page static, no #JavaScript, no server-side script. #NoJS
