    Our matrix server went offline after a huge spike in memory usage occurred. This seem to affect more servers in the matrix network and the origins of that aren't clear yet. We've restarted the server this morning, and at this moment our server is catching up with the network. We will monitor the situation and see whether it was a single incident or something of a re-occurring nature.

    @shevek lo leí en su momento y también un comentario que hacían y que ahora no consigo encontrar, no sé si en el blog o en el foro, sobre si no hubiera sido mejor invertir tiempo y esfuerzo en mejorar !xmpp que en hacer algo nuevo y desechar lo viejo. Y que al final se habían decidido por lo segundo.

    Yo no sé si eso es buena opción, no me parece que lo bueno sea desechar cosas que funcionan y cambiarnos cada cierto tiempo a otras nuevas.

    Reconozco que #Matrix es libre, descentralizado y federado, y probablemente más avanzado con un multiplataforma real y es probable que al final nos acabemos cambiando. Pero me parece un concepto de progreso más propio del #capitalismo que de la evolución.

    En el otro lado está el desarrollador de #Conversations que además es también el desarrollador de las últimas mejoras que han hecho de #xmpp la tecnología adaptada a la actualidad que es ahora.

    Creo que ese es mejor camino.

    Abundando en la charla de @colegota sobre herramientas libres de comunicación el pasado miércoles en @ingoberlab , dejo por aquí el "post" que publicaron en @disroot tras el debate sobre incorporar #matrix a sus servicios.

    #matrix es idéntico a #xmpp, en el sentido que tiene/aspira tener las mismas funcionalidades. Pero mejor leer lo que dicen ellos, aunque sea en inglés:

    Using Riot/Matrix as IRC bridge seams to break direct messages

    I started playing around with using Riot as IRC bridge because it provides a quite nice user experience on both the desktop and mobile. But it seems like only registered user can send me now a direct message on freenode. That's really bad... Is there any way to change this?

    i'm making #cybredeck , a smartphone you can assemble at home (with some skill) i also want to go after a solar pocket pc/netbook idea using the same hardware platform + solar, battery, keyboard, enclosure.

    software-wise, i'm going for a modernized #p2p lisp machine idea with a lot of inspiration taken from #plan9 and #BeOS. post below outlines the arch.

    base OS is #postmarketOS (alpine-based).
