@codewiz I'm so excited for starship, I can't wait to see it land, and the booster being caught by the chopsticks (one day in the future for sure). I wish SpaceX will succeed. I wish we will one day colonize Mars. And I wish Elon could just shut up.
@codewiz This happens to me on almost any big tech company platform with brand new account. Maybe because I have a weird IP address. Maybe because I'm privacy conscious and I set my browser settings accordingly. Maybe because I don't like joining accounts and reusing phone numbers.
Fediverse = imagine if you could use your twitter account to talk to people on facebook and write comments on youtube. Yes, that's what we've had here on fediverse for some years now.
@codewiz I'm guessing it could be seen on the fan speed, amperage or, ratio between fan speed and cpu temp. Basically when the air inlet is blocked, the fan will spin faster (paradox), draw more current (or less? I'm not sure now), but the cpu temp will still rise because of the insufficient air. Like when you block the hose of a vacuum cleaner you hear different sound.
@codewiz I just found out that apache running with `-D FOREGROUND` gracefully quits when the terminal window is resized and it makes me want to go over all of my hobby and job projects and replace apache with nginx.
@codewiz seems like my question has been answered here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VQsoG45Y_00 at around 30min he says that it would work the same even with an open circuit, so I guess that means the wires act like giant wireless antennas, and in my example the light bulb would light immediately and continue shining even with the distant switch open (AC) or just blip immediately and then stop (DC).
@codewiz I really want to see the experimental proof for this one, because I have a thought experiment to counter it. If we put the light bulb at the far end, at 1 light second away, I thinkwe would agree that it takes 1 second to light it, because even the EM field propagates at c. But what if we put the light bulb back and instead place a switch at the far end? The switch will be closed first, but we will open it less than 1s after connecting the battery, before the EM field reaches the switch
Give me a dollar for every pound of trash and I will give it to the old Vietnamese ladies who are collecting trash every day, probably receiving a dollar for a full cart of trash. If I give them dollar per pound, the money will help twice, and there will be a bunch of kids cleaning all beaches tomorrow. I did contribute to team trees, but I think I'm going to do this one on my own, face to face.
@codewiz@EccentricElephant yup. And we can (and should) learn techniques to avoid their techniques. Recommended reading: Daniel Kahnemann - Thinking, fast and slow. Recommended videos: the current three part series from SmarterEveryDay about social media manipulation. Recommended google search: CRAP test. And encourage children to like math. I wish there were any schools, lessons or trainings for critical thinking
What's the point of all the flashy encrypted chatrooms when a hacker can gain "access to unencrypted message data" stored on the server? Matrix is failing the "strictly no bullshit" test.
