But here's the reason why this is a contentious issue: Gargron made his advertising based on how acceptive and understanding all that rot he is of minority community, and how he had moderation to protect them.

Here's the thing: Instances with very disparate social views can and do coexist fine in the GNU social and wider fediverse ecosystems, but they have to WANT to coexist, and many of Mastodon's authoritarians abhor that which they cannot control.
