@codewiz Just making a guess, but you might be able to bend it a bunch of times until it breaks and turns into a razor without anyone really caring.

I switched my main computer over to #Wayland the other day. I had to reconfigure my #Plasma docks because my Latte Dock config was incompatible. Not quite happy with what I made and will have to play around more.

It's mostly going well other than the fact my computer won't suspend anymore. That will be a deal-breaker unless I can figure it out. My monitors will lock and even shut off, but something wakes them back to the lock screen and my computer never goes to sleep. Works fine in X11.

@CyborgZeta After using Wayland for a few days this week on my main tower computer, I am back on X11. I discovered that I could put my computer to sleep manually, but it would wake itself back up in less than 2 hours, sometimes only ~20 minutes. Validated by checking dmesg.

I could grunt through other issues until they are resolved, but not that one.

@CyborgZeta My computer still would not suspend itself based on timer today. But it did after I clicked the suspend button in Plasma. That same button only put my computer into an unusable state yesterday. 🤷🏻♂️

@codewiz @9to5linux @kde Yeah, that was linked from the Reddit post, right? I saw it.

Plasma 5.27.8 in my Fedora KDE VM with Wayland session: clipboard sharing does not work.

Same VM but in X11 session: clipboard sharing works.

@9to5linux @codewiz @kde I will have to do some new testing.

If you run a VM guest with Wayland, you can’t share clipboard between host and guest, which is a deal breaker for my work setup. Last I tried was several months ago though.

@9to5linux @kde I hope some missing clipboard functionality works before then. And keepassxc currently can’t auto type to a window in Wayland.

@codewiz I read the book a few years ago. I didn't even know there was a movie until this post.

I can't say the book is in my top 10, but it was worth the read. It wasn't elegant, but the thoughts it drew were very interesting and still relevant.

The interview mechanic used by the author I noticed was reused in one of the Witcher books I read. It was both alarming and coincidental that I read them near each other.

@codewiz Is that at home or work? Could be a corporate reverse proxy doing MITM packet inspection, but your system is missing the trusted certificate authority.

@rudiroller @codewiz @ElonMuskBot I don’t see a trigger in that fake-looking gun. Philips screws? Way too much barrel material for that small cylinder and don’t see any brass casings in it.

On my laptop, where I run #KDE Plasma and #Wayland, when I wake it up, it first appears unlocked and I can view everything that was on my screen before it went to sleep. A couple seconds later, and the screen will actually lock.

What if I had some private messages open or something and someone else opened the laptop lid?

It didn't used to act this way. 😦

@penguin42 @codewiz You know that they don’t have to push the technical details to the customer. They can charge everyone a flat dollar price and pay the sales tax behind the scenes because it is their responsibility in the first place. Putting the tax as a line item is a tactic to say their price is lower.
